Missions Festival 2013.

Just under 50 mission minded people from all over Waikato and Taranaki Dioceses descended on Te Kuiti to be greeted by our new Archbishop Philip on the 22nd of June 2013. He reminded us of his formative experience as a student at St John’s College when he spent a period of time in India. I followed this up with the biblical imperative regarding overseas mission.

Blue the Clown made a cameo appearance to remind us that the unexpected can happen when we get involved in overseas mission. Paul Cooper had an extensive overview of NZCMS emphasising the close relationship between Anglican Missions and NZCMS. We had an excellent session in small groups with many ideas being exchanged. We completed the day with a number of new Mission Motivators being commissioned.

The highlight for some was the singing. Helping with this was Po, a parishoner from the Parish of Te Kuiti. Po was member of the pop group called the Herbs. His guitar playing and harmonising were fantastic and led to some very moving worship.

A big thank you to Bryan Carey and his mission team as well as Carol who lovingly hosted us.
