Since the Christchurch Earthquake on 22nd February, the Anglican Mission Board has coordinated the receipt of international donations to the Bishop’s Emergency Appeal. Donations have come from USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, South Korea and Monaco.
So far the total transferred is $474,003.
The Archbishops and Bishops of the province have launched an appeal to help the Diocese of Christchurch and Te Hui Amorangi Te Waipounamu in their ministry, care and support to their people and parishes and communities affected by the 22 February Christchurch earthquake.
The Anglican Diocese of Wellington will be managing, on behalf of “the province”, the processing of all donations to this appeal.
The Diocese of Wellington will liaise with the Archbishops and General Secretary and the Bishops of the Diocese of Christchurch and Te Waipounamu to ensure these donations reach the coalface of need and will help people in the long process of rebuilding their lives, homes and communities.
Thank you for standing with the city of Christchurch in the aftermath of the earthquake, for your prayers and emails. Many from overseas have already contacted us, asking how they can help.
The Archbishops and Bishops of the Province have launched an Emergency Appeal, and the AMB have offered to receive funds on behalf of our overseas friends and partners for this Appeal. These will then be forwarded to the Bishop’s Emergency Appeal.
Email us at email@example.com if you wish to make a donation from outside of New Zealand.
