More than half a million Rohingyas have crossed the border from Myanmar into Bangladesh in the last six weeks in what the United Nations is now calling a “textbook example of ethnic cleansingâ€. Anglican Missions has launched an Emergency Appeal in support of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACoM) to assist in its work in helping the evacuated residents of Ambae Island, Vanuatu. ACoM asked Anglican Missions to assist with the immediate response and we joined the Anglican Board of Missions (Australia), Anglican Overseas Aid (Australia) and Episcopal Relief and Development (USA) in providing funds to support the Church in its initial response to the evacuation. more»
The new Rainbow Wing at the Christian Care Centre is heading towards final completion assisted by funding raised by our 2017 Lenten Appeal. So far we have been able to send NZ$15,000 to Melanesia for this project.
In a recent trip to the Solomon Islands, Michael Hartfield, AMB's Operations & Projects Manager visited the Care Centre and saw first hand the progress of the building. It is hoped it will be officially opened before the end of the year. more»
