Photo: ACT Alliance/ Paul Jeffrey. New Zealand churches have helped, and are currently helping, to resettle refugees. June 20 is World Refugee Day - a time to stand in solidarity with refugees everywhere; and caring for the refugee is an important responsibility for Christians. July 1 is set down as Refugee Sunday and CWS has prepared worship resources to pray and reflect on the plight of people who have fled their homes. Supporting refugees in neighbouring countries is an important way of showing concern; work CWS has been doing for more than 70 years as part of the church. CWS is grateful to participants in this year's Operation Refugee raising funds to help Syrian refugees with food, education and medical care. Many have completed the challenge to live on refugee rations in the past week. However, people are welcome to join the challenge or support participants until the end of July. more»
