Loss of Bishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia

We were sad to receive the following news by email on 27 December 2017 from Selwyn Leodoro, Regional Secretary of the Anglican Region of Port Vila and New Caledonia:

“This is to inform you of the untimely death of the Right Reverend +Bishop James Marvin Ligo, Diocese of Southern Vanuatu & New Caledonia. He was 52 years old.

He suffered a massive stroke and died last Friday night 22/12/2017 @ 11:00 PM in his residence in Luganville, Santo.

His funeral service was conducted by Bishop Michael Tavoa at Tagabe Parish yesterday Tuesday 26 December 2017, and his body was laid to rest in a Tomb built at the Melanesian Brotherhood Household at Teouma, 5 km outside Port Vila.

We pray that his successor will be installed in 3-6 month's time.

God calls his own to Rest in Peace.”
