  • May/June Update from the Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa

    5 August 2014

My dear friends, The Middle East is groaning. You hear about what is happening in Iraq and the many Christians who are being forced to leave their homes and also those who were killed by ISIS (Daash). Over 1,500 have been killed in Gaza and 8,000 were injured in the recent days because of the fighting between Israel and Hamas. Syria is suffering... more»

  • Churches attacked in Egypt

    15 August 2013

As I write these words, our St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Suez is under heavy attack from those who support former President Mursi. They are throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at the church and have destroyed the car of Rev. Ehab Ayoub, the priest-in-charge of St. Saviour's Church. I am also aware that there are attacks on other Orthodox churches in Menyia and Suhag in Upper Egypt (see photo), as well as a Catholic church in Suez. Some police stations are also under attack in different parts of Egypt. Please pray and ask others to pray for this inflammable situation in Egypt. more»

  • Congratulations Egypt - a message from Bishop Mouneer

    4 July 2013

"At last, Egypt is now free from the oppressive rule of the Muslim Brotherhood! The Armed Forces took the side of the millions of Egyptians who demonstrated in the streets since the 30th of June against President Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood. The Armed Forces responded to the invitation of the people to intervene and force the President to step down at the request of the people of Egypt." more»

    1 July 2013

"The situation in Egypt is very serious. I do not know where this situation will take us. I feel that Egypt is at the verge of violent demonstrations, another revolution, or civil war. We do not know what is going to happen, but we know that we are at the edge of something drastic." more»

    5 June 2013

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Today as we start our Synod (20-23 May 2013) for the Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa, with the theme of "The Church and a Changing Context," I would like to request your prayers for me, for Bishop Bill Musk and Bishop Grant LeMarquand, as well as all of the clergy and laity participating in this very important synod at this very important time. As we will be hearing reports during the Synod about what God has done in the last two years and what we hope God will do in the future, I would like to share two ministries with you... more»

"The situation in Cairo is very sad for us as a Christian community. On Friday 6 April 2013, sectarian clashes erupted once again, this time in El Khosus, in the outskirts of Cairo. The story, according to the director of the police, started by a 12-year old Muslim boy drawing graffiti on the wall of an Islamic school..." link»

    29 November 2012

"Egypt is like a patient recovering from a surgery. The body is still struggling to survive. We will have to wait and see what happens. Right now there is no clear vision or road map for the future. The Muslim Brotherhood spoke about a big project called “Revival” but no one knows this project, what are the implications, the goals, the aims, etc… It is very cloudy at the moment. But, however, we should say, that we have hope because we are in the hands of the Lord and He is in charge and He is in control." link»

    26 November 2012

"Dear friends, I am so grateful for the messages and assurance of prayers which I have recently received. The situation is not easy, and no-one can predict what is going to happen. There is obviously agitation within Egypt after President Mursi produced a Constitutional Declaration on Thursday the 22nd of November..." link»
